How to Write Your Wedding Vows

Your wedding day is one of the most special days of your life. It is a day you will never forget. If your day is nearing you have probably gotten most of the arrangements set. You have picked out what you will be wearing, your attendees, where you will be holding the ceremony and the reception, flowers, wedding favors, music and everything is beginning to fall into place. The day is just around the corner and you are getting more and more excited. Now is the perfect time to begin writing your wedding vows. Have you decided what you will say to one another on the special day?

A marriage commitment is a very special thing. What you say to each other when you say your vows will stay with you forever. You will remember the words and the moment and treasure them. Your vows should be a reflection of your commitment and the spoken words an opportunity to put what is in your heart into the ceremony itself.

Here are some things to consider when creating your own wedding vows:

Your vows are such important words take your time to compose them. Write them while you are alone so you can think in silence and quiet. Find a place where you know you think well and where you will not be interrupted. Perhaps you like to sit in the quiet of your bedroom or by pond in the park. Wherever it is, you will need paper and pen.

Ask yourself what it is about your future mate that you love? Why do you love them? How do you love them?

Think about the good times you have shared and the rough times they may not have been so good. What did you do to get through those times?

You are committing yourself to each other in marriage. You will need to make some heartfelt promises. You should not have a problem with this. Write down your promises and be honest, but open.

Include your religious beliefs in your vows. They may be the foundation of your commitment and should not be left out.

Perhaps you are planning on creating one vow that you each will recite. Still take time alone to write out your thoughts. Then you can get together and build a new vow based on what both of you have written.

After you have written your vows, get together and share what you have said.

This process is something you only do once in your lifetime. It is important to take your time and think through exactly what you want to say. Read through what you have written and make sure it reflects what you feel and think and want to say. Dont rush. Enjoy the moment.
